Need for Speed's developer, Ghost Games, already revealed we're due another entry into the long-running racing franchise. In a May 2016 blog post, the company said, "Since we released Need for Speed last November, we’ve been humbled by the support from our players and the ongoing collaboration with you. We are now building upon the foundations that have been laid with Need for Speed and delivering our next game in 2017."</div>

It took considerably longer to figure out why. I like racing games, and I love open-world exploration games. Since The Crew brings these two genres together in a pretty spectacular fashion, it should have been a delight to my senses. Instead, within a few races I was growing bored, and spent much of the remaining time playing in a sort of numb trance. Then, as I entered Miami, the game's third area, it occurred to me what was wrong. The Crew is basically The Elder Scrolls Online, but with cars. <div style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

 OK, perhaps it isn't that bad. But its problems are eerily similar. While The Crew is ambitious in terms of technology and scale, it's built upon ideas that were exhausted years ago by other games. It's ostensibly an MMO, but one which has a contradictory fixation on solo content. It's almost completely static when it needs to be dynamic. Also like an MMO, it takes bloody ages to get to anything remotely interesting, and its core mechanics, while functional, don't engage as they would in a game that could fully commit to them. Having tied up the game's problems in a neat little bow, let's now proceed to unpick it. As I said, The Crew isn't a complete disaster; it does some things well, like start. The game opens in the middle of a police chase, with you evading the blare of sirens in a pick-up truck driving over rough terrain. The setting sun bathes the countryside in a warm orange glow as your vehicle literally kicks dirt into the faces of the authorities. <div style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

 Within five minutes, your brother, leader of the 5/10 street-racing gang, is dead. And you've been framed for his murder. Within ten minutes another five years has passed, and you've been released from prison to work undercover for the FBI, who want you to infiltrate the 5/10s and uncover their dealings with the corrupt agent responsible for your wrongful conviction. It's petrol-huffing nonsense. But it's nonsense that moves with pace and purpose. Then the game throws its high-cards on the table, sliding four fossil-powered wheels under your feet and saying, "Here's America, have fun." The Crew's racetrack is the entire United States, condensed through some arcane techno-wizardry into 10,000 square kilometres of open terrain. Cities like New York, Chicago, Miami and Las Vegas are all present, and feel sizeable while only taking a few minutes to drive through. Meanwhile, your travels take you from the autumnal woodlands of the East Coast to the Floridian Everglades, Monument Valley and the snowy peaks of the Rockies. <div style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

 Cruising around this vast, seamless environment as the virtual sun arcs lazily across the sky is a pleasure in itself. The Crew boasts a lovely cockpit view, reminiscent of that from Driver: San Francisco (which isn't surprising given Reflections' input on the game). Unfortunately, laid-back simulation isn't the thrust of the game at all. It constantly pushes you toward the next objective in that really bothersome Ubisoft fashion, and although the story begins strongly, like Watch_Dogs it becomes bogged down trying to spread itself over such a large area.</div>

 "We wanted to make sure that the breadth of characters we had for the initial `amiibo' line-up supported the fan favourites, as well as showcase the variety of people Nintendo speaks to — from kids to adults," Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime said in an interview. "For example, you've got a character like Marth from the `Fire Emblem' series. We thought exposing Marth to a wider collection of consumers through `amiibo' made a ton of sense, but, of course, we had to have Mario, Princess Peach and Donkey Kong in that initial line-up, as well." Similar to Activision's "Skylanders" and "Disney Infinity," the characters' virtual histories will be stored on the plastic figures and transmitted through the Wii U GamePad, the controller for the Wii U console that features a touchscreen and near field communication (NFC) capabilities. Unlike the Activision Blizzard and Walt Disney franchises, the "amiibo" figures will work with several games from different genres and won't be required to play the games. "Our vision is to have these `amiibo' figures be your playable friends that allow you to enhance the overall experience," said Fils-Aime. "It's a different approach from Activision and Disney, which is more to unlock something in the game. You're going to want to have your `amiibo' figure because it's going to allow you to enhance your skills, upgrade your character and take the experience over to a friend's house." Nintendo first unveiled "amiibo" at the Electronic Entertainment Expo in June. The company plans to release more figures over the next year and include "amiibo" functionality in future games, as well as compatibility with its handheld Nintendo 3DS system. The Kyoto, Japan-based company is hoping the figurines will help boost its bottom line and sales of its beleaguered Wii U console, which has been on the rise since the May release of "Mario Kart 8." Despite the success of the latest installment in the cartoony Nintendo racing series, Wii U sales still trail behind the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles from rivals Sony and Microsoft. When console giants battle it out, you the gamer has to make the hard decisions. In just a few days the Xbox One will be launched in India, sold exclusively on Amazon India. The launch comes nine months after the Playstation 4 started selling here, giving Sony a headstart. Confused between the two options? We help you with that decision. Specifications This time around, both consoles have similar technology under the hood. The PlayStation 4 has a 1.6GHz custom x86 8-core processor, very similar to the Xbox One's 8-core CPU at 1.75GHz; both use AMD's Jaguar architecture. What makes a big difference, as always, is the RAM. While both have 8GB RAM, the PlayStation 4 has faster GDDR5 RAM clocked at 5500MHz with a 256-bit memory bus. On the other hand, Xbox One has 8GB DDR3 RAM, like the one you have in your PC, clocked at 2133MHz. While both systems use the same AMD Radeon GPU, a lot of reputable sources have dissected both Xbox One and Playstation 4 to find the Sony console packing a lot more GPU power with 1152 GPU cores at 800MHz as compared to Xbox One's 768 shader cores and at 852MHz (which Microsoft revised from 800MHz). Couple PS4's core superiority with the GDDR5 RAM above and there's a lot more power in there for new technologies to take advantage of. While all games will look impressive on both consoles, in the long term, as graphic engines get more and more complex, the PS4 will be able to last this cycle longer. Winner: Again, PlayStation 4, with more GPU power Style/form factor Last console war, Xbox 360 came out with an impressive design that made the PS3 pale in comparison. While beauty is in the eye of the beholder, the form factor winner this time clearly is the PlayStation 4. With its sleek unique slant design, the PS4 just looks beautiful on your console table, without taking too much of space. Xbox One does have nice minimalist aesthetics, but the console itself is massive without factoring in the gigantic power brick and the large Kinect unit. Again, this round may go to the PlayStation, but it purely depends on your aesthetic taste. Tie: You pick what you like, though the PS4 takes a lot less space Controller Nintendo Wii showed the world that there are more fun ways to control games, making the controller go beyond just a piece of plastic with buttons. The Xbox One controller is sadly just an updated version of the Xbox 360 controller, which was excellent in its own right, but for a new generation, there should be more. The new controller does look good, and packs an IR sensor for Kinect. In terms of innovation, Sony's DualShock 4 controller leads in features, with a small touch pad in the center, a clearly defined options button and an instant share button for those Twitch and social share moments. In addition to that, it updates the sixaxis, and sports a light in the centre for motion sensing. Microsoft has shown off some truly jaw dropping, foot-pumping games during E3 this year. While PlayStation 4 does have a camera similar to Kinect as well as a few things like Project Morpheus VR glasses in the works, the Kinect definitely seems a lot more exciting. Win: Kinect Games While all games generally make it to all platforms including PC, both Microsoft and Sony are pulling out all the stops in the exclusive game department. So far Sony's exclusives have been middling at best with Infamous and Killzone putting on a decent show. Though with BloodBorne and Uncharted 4 in the pipeline, the PS4 has a fighting chance. Xbox One, apart from the really good Kinect lineup, has Sunset Overdrive, Forza and the eyeball searingly good Quantum Break. There are also timed exclusives, where Xbox One scored the new Rise of the Tomb Raider and PS4 got the beautiful No Mans Sky, a game that will take you 5 billion years to see all of it. Tie: Again, it depends on what games you're looking forward to Service and failure With the Xbox service, Microsoft has always been spot on with warranty, with quick console replacements, even though the Xbox 360 failure rate was pretty high with the accursed Red Ring of Death, the bane of every gamer. PlayStation 3 had a better run, though Sony's service has always been a bit spotty. There have been reports constantly coming in from PlayStation 4 owners about their dealings with Sony service when getting their console replacements, which seem to take ages. The PlayStation 4 has seen a few cases in terms of failure, mostly in the Blu Ray failure department. Nevertheless, the replacements do arrive eventually. Going by Xbox 360's failure rate, new Xbox One owners should keep their warranty cards safely. Tie: Post the experiences you had with Sony or Microsoft, whether good or bad, and hopefully it should help prospective buyers. It could also work as a wake up call to both console giants to up their service game. Many of the video games too tend to go down on that path. However, there are some daring independent and large game studios that have ventured into making games which show and educate people the other side of war. Unrest is one such game from a small indie developer, that allows you to experience what it was like living in ancient India.  Bhimra is one of the mightiest and richest cities of ancient India. However, a severe drought brings the city down to its knees. The hunger and disease drives the residents of the city to the edge, and you get to experience it first hand from five viewpoints.  A princess is forced to flee from her palace and hide in slums. A diplomat from the Nagas, a race of snake people, doing everything to mend the strained diplomatic relations between the two races. A mercenary captain trying to maintain peace in a city on the verge of violence and riot. A priest facing the hard decision of losing his faith or his family. Lastly, a young girl who is forced to marry for the survival of her village. As these people struggle to survive, a rebellion is brewing.  Unrest is a purely story driven RPG, you have no party of adventurers or a bard to sing on your merry way. It's a game that lets you grow with the story. While the game finds its footing, things really start to pick up after the abrupt first few scenes involving the uprising. Almost, as if the writers were in a rush to get this over with.  However, once you get to the stories, that's where the real magic of Unrest sets in. Each of the story is powerful in its own right, the ones that hit the hardest are the peasant girl Tanya; the fallen princess Asha; and the priest Bhagwan.  <img src="http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/photo/43706758.cms" style="background: rgb(255, 255, 255); border: 0px; color: #3f3f3f; font-family: georgia; font-size: 15px; line-height: 20px; margin: 0px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px;" /> You wade through each of these stories through lots of written text and conversations where you have to make dialogue choices. To aid you in the tone of each dialogue is a helpful one-word description that helps you plan how to negotiate and talk yourself out of situations.  You play the game from a top-down three quarters perspective, very much like Diablo and Baldurs Gate. Dialogues appear in big boxes filled with text. All dialogues are written. Yes, there is also a bit of violence, very little though. So, if you like hacking things up with swords and are averse to reading, then stop right now, Unrest is not the game for you.  The developers have focused all efforts into crafting a rich world with lots of written dialogue with emotional depth, taking into consideration the caste  system that has been a big part of India then and now too. You are forced to make tough decisions just for a meagre piece of bread, or for your very survival. The writing is top notch, and there are times where you will pause the game to absorb the gravity of the situation and your decision. Things really don't let up in the game, and you actually feel for these characters.  Decisions you make not only play a big part in your day-to-day survival, but also affect the world around you. Too much violence can instigate violence, a few wrong decisions can spell disaster. The designers have done a fantastic job of stacking up the odds against you.  While Unrest scores high in its simple yet effective writing, the graphics leave more to be desired. Sure, at first glance, the hand drawn visuals bring to mind Bal Bharati text book illustrations most Indians are familiar with in school. This also brings a bit of nostalgia in the first hour of the game or so. However, the gritty realism in the story loses a bit when it comes to the presentation. Even something close to the first Baldurs Gate or the original Diablo would have increased the impact of the story ten-fold.  Unrest is a beautifully written tale, with stories from a fantasy ancient troubled time that punch you in the stomach. Think of it as an interactive book, where you drive the story through clever dialogues. Recommended for gamers who want something different and non-gamers who want something that's not unconventional to read and experience.  3.5/5  Price: $14.99 Platform: PC  Features- A unique quasi-fantasy historical perspective Well thought out, and written </div>
