The 2015 edition of the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) was dominated by fitness and wearable gadgets from small startups, some of which raised money via crowd-funding campaign. While most gadgets were me-too, there were few who stood out from the crowd.

1. MySkin Oku


MySkin Oku
Most health trackers focus on your body but this one takes care of your skin. MySkin’s Oku scans your skin via multi-spectral light and sensors and works in tandem with an app that analyses the skin for moisture, oiliness, texture, wrinkles and pigmentation. The app then makes lifestyle and diet recommendations to get a healthy skin.

Move over smartwatches, we now have a ring that brings all important notifications to your finger!

The Mota Smart Ring gets notifications from calls, messages, and social media updates and vibrates to alert you. It even lets you scroll through these notifications and control what notifications you get.

4. Zensorium Being Smartwatch

This smartwatch can track your mood and let you know what time of the day you were feeling sad or distressed or excited. It achieves this by measuring your heart rate and blood pressure.

It comes with an OLED screen and shows different colours to reflect your mood. It also tracks sleep patterns and activity.

Bluetooth-enabled wireless headphones that can also charge your phone, the Phaz Music P2 sport a colourful design with perforated ear pads.

The French company never fails to surprise and this time it’s come up with a connected plant pot!

The Parrot Plant connects to your phone or tablet via Bluetooth and helps you track sunlight, soil moisture, temperature and fertilizer levels of your plant via intelligent sensors. It has a 2.2litre water reservoir and an automatic watering system that waters the plant with the right amount at the right time.

Imagine a time when you can just print your food to your liking! This new 3D food printer can make chocolates and cakes of any shape and size you want but you’ll still need to bake them.

Targeted at bakeries and cake shops, it can only print out one dough-based, cookable food item at a time. It has a touch screen and can connect to Windows and Mac PCs for designing inputs.

Taking Yoga to the next level, the SmartMat includes a mat that detects the body and an app that gives feedback and creates a personal profile to track your progress.

It detects the body’s balance and alignment in more than 62 yoga poses and and gives feedback on how to improve. It will also come with a marketplace where people will be able to download yoga lessons.

10. Parrot Zik Sport


Parrot Zik Sport
Parrot’s new sports-focused wireless in-ear headphones are not just sweet resistant, they can also track the user’s heart rate via a biometric sensor. These can also analyse your running style, ground contact time and vertical oscillation and synchronize performance with sports apps.

The headphones feature 24 bits DSP sound and adaptive noise cancellation and an app to customize the output.
