MG has finally unveiled the first official images of its new MG GTS SUV. The 4×4 vehicle will begin selling in China from May 2015 while it is expected to arrive in Europe by 2016. First previewed at the Shanghai Motor Show in 2013, the production version of the GTS was the brainchild of design boss Anthony Williams-Kenny, in collaboration with the company’s Shanghai and Longbridge design teams.
Key design features include a simple grille sporting the traditional Morris Garages badge, a chunky dual-tone front bumper, trapezoidal headlamps along with sleek lines and angled tailgate. With dimensions of 4,500mm in length, 1,675mm width and 1,675mm height, the GTS is slightly longer and wider than the Volkswagen Tiaguan, though 8mm lower.

Coming to the internal mechanicals, the MG GTS sports a 2.0 litre direct injection petrol engine, which can produce 350Nm of torque and 217bhp. Meanwhile, power is channelled through a standard six-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. The new MG is claimed to reach 0-62mph in around 8 seconds. In addition, there will be a more affordable 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine producing 168bhp and 184lb ft.
