Microsoft brings the cheapest 4G Lumia 638 Smartphone for Rs
8,299
After announcing the Lumia 535 for India last month, Microsoft has now announced its first affordable 4G smartphone offering, the Lumia 638. The phone has been priced at Rs 8,299, thereby making it the cheapest 4G-supported device in the country. In addition to that, the Lumia 638 becomes the first Microsoft Lumia phone the country which can be pre-ordered from tomorrow onwards, at Microsoft Store, part of the Amazon India website.

Lumia 638 lines up alongside Lumia 520, Lumia 525 and Lumia 535 in the sub Rs 10,000 segment. It sports a 4.5-inch FWVGA ClearBlack display and runs on Windows Phone 8.1 platform. The phone comes equipped with 1.2 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 CPU and 1GB RAM, offering 8GB expandable storage.

It comes fitted with a 5MP rear camera only and there is no mention about LED flash. The most interesting aspect about the Lumia 638 is its 4G compatibility with India bands. The phone has been loaded with an 1830 mAh battery that can surely cater to over a day's life support.

Lumia 638 might be the cheapest Microsoft device to offer 4G connectivity support, but you'll be glad to know that existing Lumia devices are already 4G enabled. The company openly confirmed about the fact that all Lumia smartphones, barring the Lumia 820 are software locked for 4G till now. The upcoming Windows Lumia denim update will bestow power of 4G to them as well.
