Available in single- as well as dual-sim variants, the new Lumia 640 smartphone has a 5-inch HD screen. Lumia 640 XL has a bigger 5.7-inch HD screen.

Lumia 640 and 640XL are both powered by a 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 (MSM8926) quad-core processor and 1GB RAM. These come with 8GB internal storage, with microSD card support up to 128GB.

The smartphones will come with Window 8.1 operating system at launch, but will get Windows 10 update later this year. Microsoft also announced that it will offer a year-long subscription to Office 365 with the two smartphones.

On the imaging front, the all-new Lumia 640 has an 8MP rear camera with f2.2 lens, while the selfie camera only has 1MP resolution. The Lumia 640XL has a 13MP rear camera and 5MP front camera.

Microsoft Lumia 640 comes with a 2,500mAh battery while the 640XL features a 3,000mAh battery.

An upgrade to Lumia 635, the Lumia 640 will be available at 139 euros and 159 euros for the 3G and LTE variants, respectively. The 3G variant of the Lumia 640XL phablet will cost 189 euros, while the 4G model will be available for 219 euros.
